Player Overview
Michael Epstein is a playmaker in the truest form. As a running back, he possesses the speed and elusiveness to be a home run threat every time he touches the ball. On defense, he’s a ball hawk, and patrols the secondary alone in PPO’s Cover-1 defense. When it comes to special teams, his return skills are exceptional for an 11 year-old and he has several touch downs on punt returns this year already.
Michael was an easy choice for our playmaker this week because of his outstanding performance in the big match up against the Coral Springs Chargers last Saturday. Both teams went into the game undefeated, so the pressure was on and Michael rose to the occasion as all playmakers do. All totaled, he finished the day with 258 all-purpose yards with two touchdowns and an interception.
For those who have not seen him play yet, what makes #26 such a special talent on the field is his awareness. He lines up in at least four different positions in each game and is always where he needs to be. In PPO’s spread option attack, Michael plays the role of “Ronnie Brown” the leader of the Miami Dolphins famed Wildcat. He’s known to take direct snaps in for scores on the goal line. Michael is coached by his father Dave Epstein and his 110 lb Bengals team is unbeaten through seven games.
